Vadier, Marc-Guillaume

   political figure

   Born in Pamiers, Marc-Guillaume Vadier was a deputy for the Third Estate to the estates general in 1789. Reelected, during the revolution of 1789, to the Convention (1792), where he sat with the montagnards, he was also a member of the Committee of Public Safety and became one of the main opponents of maximilien Robespierre. Condemned, nonetheless, after 9 Thermidor, Year II (July 27, 1794) and following the days of 12 and 13 Germinal, Year III (April 1 and 2, 1795), he succeeded in hiding but was implicated in the Conspiracy of the Equals of francois-noël babeuf (1796). A deputy during the hundred days, Vadier was proscribed as a regicide in 1816.
